SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. – Protecting kids in traffic crashes
SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. is the national nonprofit focused on child passenger safety, to reduce death and injury of children in traffic crashes through the correct, consistent use of safety seats and safety belts. Founded in 1980, SBS USA offers professional training for health care and social workers and community educators and develops resources and educational materials based on best practice principles. SBS USA has participated in the development of both technical and program aspects of the field, including input on major changes in legislation and national regulation, most significantly achieving mandated shoulder-lap belts in the rear seats of vehicles in 1989 and saving mandatory manual locking of belts in 2012. Among many partners, pediatricians have been especially close since our founding. SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. provides accurate information on "best practice," including help for complex situations related to safe transportation of children with special needs.
