Polin Waterparks is the pioneer in the advancement and application of closed-molded manufacturing technology in waterslide development.  Press Releases

  • Polin Waterparks is honored to announce that, for the sixth year in a row, it has been honored with multiple European Star Awards. This year, the prizes were bestowed in the categories of "Europe's Best Waterslides" and "Europe's Best Waterparks." Polin received the recognition at this year's Euro Attractions Show (EAS) during a special ceremony on Sept. 25 at the Columbia Theatre in Berlin, Germany. The event took place the evening before the official kick-off of EAS, the largest attractions exhibition in the amusement industry.

With an expansive footprint, the EAS show floor boasts more than 500 exhibiting companies from around the world, representing more than 130 product categories. As the foundation of the EAS, 2017's trade show floor offers attendees the chance to gain a first look at some of the up-and-coming products, services and technologies in the industry.

Park operators and manufacturers were awarded their prizes personally after an independent, international trade jury voted for and ranked the most remarkable attractions, waterslides, rollercoasters and theme parks in Europe. Awardees were recognized for entrepreneurial courage and exceptional innovations within the European theme park industry. The prizes are considered a rare distinction for attraction designers and theme parks, proving their exceptional achievements.

Of particular note regarding this year's event, Polin's innovative King Cobra waterslide earned an award for the fourth time in six years. This year's recognition was as the First Place European Star Award for the "Best Waterslide in Europe" category.

    King Cobra's unending accolades

King Cobra has won numerous awards since its debut. The waterslide is unique in its thrilling ride. As a whole, however, it is considered a game-changing waterslide because of its compelling appearance; it is the first in the world that offers its own theming built directly into the fiberglass. When installed with its original theme, it features bold red, black and white scales that create an imposing veneer over both its exterior and interior. Its sheer size also gains respect: It reaches a massive height of 50 feet (15.24 meters) with a length of 260 feet (790 meters). Yet, parks have many options with the impressive slide, because it can also be designed to match a park's own theming, being customized with unending variations.

In total, Polin achieves seven awards

Polin's awards didn't end with its accolades for King Cobra, however. Polin also was honored with seven additional awards in partnership with waterparks that feature its waterslides. Polin gave kudos to these parks in providing them with the perfect facilities in which to showcase its waterslides.

"We truly owe a debt of gratitude to the park owners who put their faith in us to deliver waterslides that create such dedicated fans - fans who come back over and over to be able to experience our rides," said Sohret Pakis, Director of Marketing and Communications for Polin, who was on hand to accept the award. "We rely on our partners to help us continually innovate our products to meet their and their guests' highest expectations. We congratulate them all and all the winners."

The partners who were recognized alongside Polin Waterparks and received awards were:

    • Aqualand Frejus in France for First Place in "Europe's Best Water Slides" for Polin's King Cobra. Aqualand Frejus was the first park in France at which a King Cobra was installed. Other Aqualand facilities at which Polin has installed attractions are Aqualand Cap d'Agde, Aqualand St. Cyprien, Aqualand St. Cyr Sur Mer and Aqualand Bassin d'Arcachon.
    • Surf Safari at Rixos Premium, Tekirova, Antalya, Turkey, for 10th Place in "Europe's Best Waterslides." The park also features several other Polin attractions: a Looping Rocket, Spheres and a giant waterplay structure. Polin's Surf Safari Waterslide received the "Best of Las Vegas'" Award in 2015. (Please see the video for additional information.)
    • Space Race at Oasis Waterpark, Izmir, Turkey, for Fourth Place in "Europe's Best Waterslides." This first-of-a-kind slide only recently opened in Turkey. Guests thrill as they compete with other teams in a race around a giant bowl, swirling opposite directions on identical routes. Teams are able to watch their competition over Polin's patent-pending dividers so each team can get every available advantage to gain a winning edge. The competition is fierce up until the last second as each team exits the bowl and shoots in opposite directions to the finish for an utterly exhilarating experience. Also Polin's signature waterslide Space Race received an IAAPA Brass Ring Award in the category of Class A Water Park Ride/Attractions in 2016 and Most Valuable Product for 2016 by Aquatics International magazine. (Please see the video for additional information.)
    • Aqua Fantasy in Izmir, Turkey, for Fifth Place in "Europe's Best Water Parks" and Eighth Place for "Europe's Best Water Slides" for Polin's Super Combo. Aqua Fantasy has the special honor of launching one of Polin's newest signature attractions: its first Sphere, another innovative product that is gaining growing popularity. (Please see the video for additional information.)
    • Istralandia in Croatia for Fifth Place in "Europe's Best Water Parks." Istralandia was the first waterpark ever built in Croatia. The park expanded this past year and added two new waterslides designed by Polin. (Please see the video for additional information.)
    • The Land of Legends in Antalya, Turkey, for Eighth Place in "Europe's Best Waterparks." The entertainment facility features a long and varied list of attractions - from a five-star hotel to a dolphinarium, a wildlife park and a very promising waterpark. The waterpark section of the project is called "Legends of Aqua." (Please see the video for additional information.)

After the awards ceremony, Pakis reiterated the company's thankfulness for being recognized with so many distinctions. "We are very honored to receive these awards. We are especially grateful to the parks who were also winners; they have been such great partners to us as we develop our products. And we extend our congratulations to all of the other winners during the evening. We take great pride in being among them."

Pakis invited attendees to visit the Polin Waterparks booth (#18-418 in Hall 18) at the show to view information about the waterpark attractions that garnered the company its honors. "We want to share our gratitude for these incredible honors with all of our friends and partners," Pakis said. "We hope everyone can take a moment to stop by our booth and say hello."

  • Giving parks options is the name of the game as Polin Waterparks in cooperation with Lagotronics introduces a second enhanced version of its new Splash Cabin, this one using VR technology.

Polin Waterparks (Turkey) & Lagotronics (Netherlands) are taking the  experience to the next level with the new "Virtual-Reality Splash Cabin" aquatic attraction.

Using the latest technology in VR goggles, along with handheld shooters, guests will enter an otherworldly environment in which they will feel they are floating along streams and through villages on a remote island. As they encounter a variety of different situations, they will participate in the greatest water battle of their lives, competing against other players to earn points and "stay alive."

The next level of "Splash Cabin" gaming
Last fall, Polin introduced the Splash Cabin at IAAPA. That version of the game allows two players to engage in a fun, water-fueled battle with animated competitors using an interactive screen and mounted water shooters. Guests don 3D glasses - either Oculus Rift or HTC Vive - and play from inside a beach-bungalow-style cabin, scoring points by hitting moving targets while trying to avoid being hit themselves by waterjets shooting from screen-embedded nozzles.

The first installation of the Splash Cabin was announced last month when it opened at Aquafantasy Waterpark in Selçuk, İzmir, Turkey.

As Polin continuously innovates its product line via its recently certified Research and Development division as and R&D center, it partners with world-leading experts to develop games unlike any others on the market. For Splash Cabin, Polin partnered with Lagotronics (Venlo, Netherlands), a specialty firm that creates state-of-the-art technology and innovative solutions.

    Advantages of the newest innovation
Now, Polin's and Lagotronics' second collaboration - the VR Splash Cabin - will be unveiled, pushing the envelope by using VR glasses and handheld water shooters. For smaller parks, the VR Splash Cabin covers a smaller footprint compared to its 3D Splash Cabin cousin. The VR version requires a space of 3.8 meters long x 3.6 meters wide of space (12.5 feet long x 12 feet wide).

The VR version creates a full 360-degree experience using the highest-resolution virtual-reality equipment on the market. Players will experience being "inside the game" while defending themselves using fully robust and durable water shooters. Players will be doused with water splashes - controlled by Polin's system - according to their game play.

An interactive experience unlike any other
Mark Beumers, CEO of Lagotronics Projects, says most consumers' experiences to date with virtual-reality gaming have been with home-based consumer devices. "But the VR Splash Cabin allows them to finally feel the power of a true VR experience. When they enter the Splash Cabin and put on their VR goggles, they will believe they truly are lost on a remote island. Our interactive hardware is a powerful system, and guests will feel its breadth in this new aquatic attraction."

Ali Cansun, Polin's R&D Director, believes the VR Splash Cabin offers guests an experience they won't find anywhere else in the world. "The state-of-the-art hardware, software and waterplay components provide the greatest interactive VR experience possible," he says. "And we're not beholden to any particular company's VR equipment when it comes to the future. As the products improve, we will switch brands accordingly to ensure guests get the best available VR glasses in the world."

    Advantages overview

    • Less space requirement compared with the Splash Cabin: 3.8 meters long x 3.6 meters wide of space (12.5 feet long x 12 feet wide).
    • A more fully immersive, 360 degree experience of feeling inside the game.
    • A high-resolution VR experience using the best equipment in the market.
    • Robust and durable shooting equipment.

p.s. Polin will officially introduce the attraction at the 2017 Euro Attractions Show (EAS) at the Messe Berlin Exhibition Center (Berlin, Germany) next week (Sept. 26-28). Polin invites all of its friends and partners to visit its booth (#418 in Hall 18) to experience the attraction in person (albeit without water via the use of VR glasses). For those who have not yet registered for the show, Polin has complimentary passes available. (Contact the company at info@polin.com.tr to get your free pass.)

  • Competition gets players wet as they battle against animated opponents in first-ever Splash Cabin attraction.

Splash Cabin debuts at Aquafantasy Waterpark

Interactive gaming reached a completely new level of competition with Polin Waterpark's introduction of its innovative Splash Cabin gaming system. Polin Waterparks (Istanbul, Turkey) installed the world's first Splash Cabin at Aquafantasy Waterpark in Selçuk, İzmir, Turkey in July.

Splash Cabin is a unique game that allows two players to engage in a fun, water-fueled battle with animated competitors using an interactive screen. Guests play from inside a beach-bungalow-style cabin and score points by hitting moving targets while trying to avoid being hit themselves by waterjets shooting from screen-embedded nozzles. Players earn points for hitting targets, and the loser is doused with a water-splash surprise. On the operator side, it is an extra revenue generator. One other feature of this unique attraction is that offering a racing opportunity, the attractions ensures loyalty among the visitors.

    An Enterprising Partnership

To create Splash Cabin, Polin partnered with Lagotronics (Venlo, Netherlands), a specialty firm that creates state-of-the-art technology and innovative solutions. Together, the firms have begun an imaginative collaboration developing new, original interactive waterslide experiences for both water sliding and water gaming. The first of their state-of-the-art projects to make its debut is Splash Cabin, which the two introduced last fall at IAAPA's annual convention in Orlando, Fla. But the two also have ground-breaking projects in the works that include interactive dark rivers, virtual-reality waterslides and VR waterslide gaming. The alliance between the two companies aims to offer a wholly new dimension to waterpark fun.

Never Accepting Less Than the Best

Muharrem Atilla, Waterpark Manager of Aquafantasy, says he is extremely happy with the park's newest attraction. "Offering breaththrough attractions is the norm for our park, which is one of the largest in Turkey," he says. "But the Splash Cabin is a completely new attraction, even for us. It combines so many elements that deliver guest satisfaction. Multiple guests can play simultaneously, the queues move quickly due to the limited game timing, and they can even share their experiences on social media, which expands exposure of the attraction to potential new fans who aren't even at the park.''

"We're truly thrilled to add a Splash Cabin to our list of attractions."

The new gaming option isn't the only Polin-designed waterpark attraction guests can enjoy at Aquafantasy. Polin Waterparks has installed a variety of its most creative rides at the award-winning facility, including its Super Combo and Wave Slide. Aquafantasy's honors range from Best Splash Accommodation Winner from First Choice, the Quality Award from Nazar, multiple Certificates of Excellence from TripAdvisor and the European Star Award for Best Waterpark to the Golden Pony Award, Most Valuable Product (MVP) Award, Shining Star Award and more.

Specialty Features Set Splash Cabin Apart

Splash Cabin is a wet version of Lagotronic's GameCabIN, and Polin Waterparks is the exclusive seller of the attraction. Thanks to its modular design and small footprint - 3.8 meters long x 5.8 meters high x 3.6 meters wide (12.5 feet long x 19 feet high x 12 feet wide ), the hut fits easily into a variety of entertainment and leisure facilities' operations. The powerful combination of its 3D video screen, full HD images, fantastic fantasy shooters, perfectly pitched audio and high fun factor ensure guests are eager to queue up again and again.

    Highlighted features include:

    • More fun and excitement than similar 3D shooting games
    • The ability for two guests to play simultaneously
    • A realistic 3D experience produced by two LED projectors
    • 2 robust water shooters designed to deliver long, problem-free user time
    • Requirement of only one computer with plug-and-play architecture for game control
    • Multiple responsive water nozzles embedded in the interactive screen
    • Computer-controlled electronic water valves
    • A high-pressure water pump
    • 2-minute-maximum game duration
    • Waterproof equipment inside the splash zone
    • The option to play without water features
    • 2 types of unique cabin designs
    • Social-media integration
    • The possibility of indoor and outdoor versions (also inside Water Play Structure pools)
    • Availability of different cabin theming
    • Availability of different game scenarios and IPs.

  • Incorporating VR Technology into Waterslide Ride Is Breakthrough for Waterpark Industry

Park guests can now experience a trip through the lost city of Atlantis on the first waterslide in history to incorporate virtual-reality simulation into the journey.

Traveling down a waterslide has always been a unique adventure for guests. The path may be the same each time, but the adrenaline rush can change based on factors such as the person’s state of mind, weather, the sun’s angle, the water temperature, body weight and even the rider’s swimwear.

Now, however, waterslide riders can experience a unique and wholly different excitement, entering diverse, one-of-a-kind worlds as they shoot through a slide’s bends and curves. The new twist is based on the genius collaboration between Polin Waterparks (Kocaeli, Turkey) and Polymorph Software (Montgermont, France). The two firms’ R&D departments partnered to create an innovative first for the waterpark industry with the development of “Splash VR”, the first technology solution that deploys a virtual-reality experience for waterpark guests without impacting the structure of existing waterslides.

    An elaborate effort of teamwork
Ali Cansun, Polin’s Research and Development Director, says the ambitious project took more than eight months of partnership and invention. “The technology is structured around important innovations such as ‘user-tracking’ solutions,” he explains. “This technology means we can install it on a wide variety of many slides. Rather than needing to build all-new slides, we integrate computer and electronic elements to existing slides. This technology then interacts with helmets that riders wear.”

The first park in the world to add the technology to an existing slide is “The Land of Legends” in Antalya, Turkey. This world-class facility features a long and varied list of attractions — from a five-star hotel to a dolphinarium and a wildlife park. But the facility’s Legends of Aqua waterpark is its star, covering 280,000 square meters (3,013,895 square feet) and offering 72 waterslides plus many additional aquatic attractions. Polin Waterparks provided the wide assortment of slides, as well as wave and river systems, a SurfStream® (one of the largest in the world) and a Wave Ball (the first in Turkey). The resort even offers a ladies-only area and an especially large children’s water zone with water playground and spray zone.

Now, Polin Waterparks has upgraded one of this world-renowned facility’s Family Rafting Slides with the Splash VR technology, further enhancing the US$1 billion facility’s five-star reputation.

Ahmet Çolakoğlu, Design Director for Rixos World Parks & Entertainment (Serik, Turkey), the park’s developer, says it was important for Land of Legends to become the first in the world to install the Splash VR technology. “We take our status of being a world-class facility very seriously. We want to give guests the very best experience possible,” he says. “Being the first means our guests know that they are our first priority — that they count on us to always keep them entertained. So we are excited to provide this new attraction and glad to be partnering again with Polin Waterparks.”

Sliding Deep Into a Lost World

When guests in Land of Legends’ rafts wore their VR headwear and begin their waterslide journey, they will experience a journey though the Lost City of Atlantis. Based on a radio-wave system, the headsets know exactly where users are located on the slide and their views change based on a triangulation of electromagnetic-radiation wavelengths.

The Lost City of Atlantis has been an object of fascination since Plato mentioned it nearly 2,400 years ago. The great philosopher described a powerful and advanced kingdom that sank into the ocean, within the span of a night and day, around 9600 B.C. Ancient Greeks were divided whether the story was true or simply a metaphor. But during the 19th century, people’s renewed interest in the story began linking it to actual historical locations, such as the Greek island of Santorini, which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption around 1600 B.C.

In Polin’s version of the myth, riders are immersed in an unprecedented adventure as they begin a journey of discovery while searching for the lost metropolis. The legend becomes reality as the virtual explorers make their way into the city and then explore its sights before sliding back into the real world.

    A First-of-Its-Kind Innovation for Waterparks

Guichard Fabrice, Director of Polymorph, says the design and production of the first waterproof virtual-reality helmets became possible due to advancements in 3D technology. “The first helmets were designed and printed in 3D, to be tested and improved easily. They integrate all the computer and electronic elements that allow the helmet to play a real, 360-degree video, calculated in real time based on the rider’s location in the slide.” Now our R&D teams finalize the new version of the helmet that will be produced industrially. He says the team focused exceptional effort in making sure the headwear was comfortable and ergonomic and provided an exceptional immersive experience.

“The development of a 360-degree video player with the ability to synchronize both the speed of the video with the guest’s position in the slide? It’s a phenomenal idea!” he adds. “Guests’ experiences in riding waterslides are changed forever with this extraordinary, advanced technology.”

Polin Waterparks introduced the new offerings at IAAPA’s annual conference last fall. At Polin’s booth, visitors could wear Google Cardboard Goggles and take virtual test rides on its Space Race and Storm Racer waterslides. With the introduction of the Atlantis immersive experience, however, guests on actual waterslides can now imagine being in completely different worlds. The Atlantis video is only the beginning of the adventures awaiting guests. Parks will have the opportunity to allow riders to choose different adventures — new concepts and films — every time they shoot down a tube.

That’s because the VR technology provides:

    • A full 360-degree experience of varying scenarios throughout each ride

    • A user-friendly interface that allows guests to select desired interactions

    • A synchronized VR display that can begin the ride displaying “real-life” images and then transition to a completely animated experience

    • Unlimited scenario options including falling from a waterfall; traveling through dinosaur eras, space or other futuristic times; horror-action experiences; and licensed-character themes for kids.

Throughout the ride, guests are ensured a safe experience from the high-tech design of IP68-certified waterproof and dust-protection wireless VR glasses.

“Guests at IAAPA loved the experience of getting a virtual ride on our slides,” Cansun says. “Now parks anywhere will be able to offer this breakthrough technology to their guests. The waterslide experience will never be the same. This is a game-changer for the waterpark industry, no doubt about it.”

  • Guests at the South China resort experience the rush of Polin's combo rides, signature attractions and specially sized kid water play products.

Turkey (August 7, 2017) - Polin Waterparks, supplier of waterparks, is proud to recognize the success of the Qizibay Grand New Century Resort as it approaches its second anniversary. The luxury resort features a variety of unique, signature waterslides and attractions.

Qizibay is located along the coast of Hainan, which is one of South China's most popular tourist destinations. Hainan is the smallest and southernmost province of the country. While the island is home to many rivers, it has very few natural lakes. That fact, along with its warm, subtropical climate, makes the luxury waterpark all the more appealing to both residents and tourists.

The exceptional quality and engineering expertise of Polin's product line - most particularly its unique translucent waterslide components, patented Natural Light Effects and Special Pattern Effects technologies - pushed Polin to the top of the list when Qizibay's management team was choosing its amenities for the 27,500-square-meter (290.6-square-feet) waterpark.

Qizibay debuted its hotel in May 2016, followed by the opening of the waterpark in July 2016. Operated by New Century Tourism Group - China's biggest nonstate operator of four-stars-or-above hotels - the resort includes several of Polin's hybrid ride designs. The development of these combo attractions offers guests exciting slide paths and unexpected G-force changes. Specifically, the resort features Polin's Super Combo, an award-winning waterslide with five different slide paths that is the highlight of the project. But guests' adrenaline-pumping options don't end there. They also can take turns on Polin's Sphere, Space Boat, Uphill Flying Boats, Navigatour, Black Hole,  Blackhole-Turbolance ComboBlackhole-Rafting Combo, Compact Slide and Wide Slide

  • Waterslides at the upcoming Coventry waterpark project fit intricately into limited footprint of indoor waterpark situated alongside church spire built in 1200s.

Turkey (20 June 2017) - Building a waterpark near a historic site has undoubtedly happened in the past - perhaps numerous times. But building a waterpark within mere yards of an 800-year-old church tower and spire is undoubtedly a once-in-several-lifetimes event. The challenges of situating the new Coventry City Centre Leisure Park in Coventry, West Midlands, Central England, then, was one that required unusual respect and specialized considerations, and Polin Waterparks is honored to have been chosen as the waterslide supplier to this unique project.

FaulknerBrowns Architects fulfilled the requirements of the historic £36.7 million (US$41.26 million) undertaking. The firm has designed many innovative and award-winning buildings, including Derby Arena, a velodrome for the Pan Am games in Toronto, the canoeing and sailing centers for London's Olympics in 2012 and an Olympic-standard aquatics center in Dubai. Other key contributors to the project include the main supplier and construction firm the Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd. (Stowe, Bucks, U.K.) and consultant Neuman Aqua Ltd (Ockley, Surrey, U.K.).

Set to open in late 2018 or early 2019, the project has been called a "game-changer" by architect Bilge Pakis, Design Manager of Polin Waterparks. Bilge Pakis says:  "It is a game-changer in its distinctive design, required to fit the facility into a very tight footprint on a site where Franciscan monks originally constructed a cruciform-shaped church in the early 1200s. Over the years, the site's space became smaller and smaller as history left its marks.'' (King Henry VIII's dissolution of monasteries in 1538 doomed the original building, leaving only the tower spire, In both cases, the construction of nearby businesses slowly squeezed the borders of the only surviving edifice until the site's former occupant - an office building - was erected in the 1970s.)

Colin Roddy, Project Director of Buckingham Group Contracting, says that working on the project is a challenge his team is excited to tackle. "Yes, the limitations of the space create a very controlled environment in which to work," he says. "But we're experienced in understanding the intricacies of such challenges. It's also very exciting to be part of creating a centerpiece for the city of Coventry."

    Meeting the public's requests

Dramatic night lighting will emphasize the modern shape and provide a view inside via huge frameless windows. To accommodate all of the necessary elements that city leaders are requiring of their new council -owned facility, however, its designers have gotten even more creative. Specifically, the new facility promises to provide not only waterpark elements but also a 25-meter swimming pool, a gym, a climbing wall, squash courts, a dance studio, a day spa and administrative area. Providing such a wide range of amenities within a limited space meant going up - as in three stories up, stacking the building's offerings into a multi-level structure.

Polin Waterparks Senior Architect Zeynep Canbaz says ''The floorplan ultimately put the waterslides on the third floor, an especially unusual proposal. That meant Polin needed to specially adapt its rides to fit within the specific limitations of the building's mostly round layout and its constricting ceiling height. "It wasn't an easy design," Canbaz says. "But it was incredibly fun to work on. It was challenging yet exciting to see the puzzle pieces of the slides match the required size needs and, finally, fit perfectly within the restrictions of the facility."

Roger Currie, of Neuman Aqua, "The Coventry leisure park is such an exceptional structure. It's beautiful, sophisticated and will have an incredibly positive impact on the city," he says. "Working with Polin Waterparks to design within the footprint of the building has given us an even greater appreciation for this unique facility and the many offerings it brings to the local citizens."

Accommodating six slides into such a tight space required extraordinarily delicate design skills. For example, the bowl of one ride - Polin's Space Hole - sits smack in the middle of the building and exits riders into a plunge pool on the floor below. The other slides also exit on the second floor, and a spiral ramp helps guests navigate back to the third level.

    Fitting within the building's limitations

Polin Waterparks needed to incorporate the building's unique considerations into its slide designs. This meant specially designing several of the waterslides, such as creating a Mini Tsunami and a Navigatour with three uphill sections - one with and two without waterjets. It also meant designing all of the slides except for the Space Hole to incorporate dry-out exits without pools. And it meant restricting the heights of all of the slides. At this facility, then, the Space Hole is 14.62 meters (48 feet) high, and the other five slides are 11.50 meters (37.72 feet) high.

The specific attractions Polin adapted for the Coventry City Centre waterpark include:

    • Tunnel Bodyslide (family slide) with Slide'n Roll special effects. This specially engineered ride delivers a long, smooth journey that combines all of Polin's most exclusive technologies - unique sound, lighting and design special effects - into one slide that creates an experience that fulfills the full range of sensory stimuli for guests.
    • Sphere-Space Shuttle Combo. Polin fused two of its rides to create this streamlined attraction that puts two riders on a raft that enters a steep drop that sends them speeding into both a sphere and a pod. In both, gushing water propels riders from side to side before exiting out and expelling them downhill. Natural Light Effects (NLE) technology makes this ride come alive with color as light from outside the tubes interacts with water sluicing inside to create amazing light effects.
    • The Space Hole. Situated at the centre of the new leisure facility, this ride propels riders through an enclosed tube that exits into a huge, open bowl. Centrifugal force whirls riders around the bowl's interior before they exit via a breathtaking splash through the bowl's center and drop into a plunge pool on the second floor. NLE technology adds extra drama to the ride.
    • Mini Tsunami. High-capacity is the feature of this waterslide that is strategically designed for "end-to-end" excitement. The slide will feature a custom Coventry logo design on its exterior.
    • A Navigatour. Riders slide along a breathtaking 135-meter (443-feet) path on this ride. Whether riding singly or with a friend, travelers slip in and out of the light as they experience an amazing light show due to the slide's NLE technology.
    • Looping Rocket. This attraction features a unique "launch capsule" with a trap door that opens to send riders through a high-speed, horizontal, 360-degree loop. Translucent components allow other guests in the facility to watch riders shoot through the slide's tubes.

All of Polin's slides at the project are manufactured using Light Resin Transfer Molding (L-RTM) technology. Polin pioneered this technique for waterslide attractions - a process that creates multiple advantages. Significantly, the technique creates slide components with a shiny, smooth finish on both the interior and exterior. The technique also allows for stronger yet lighter waterslides that are easier to install - a particularly important feature in facilities such as Coventry City Center where weight is an obvious factor. A third advantage of the L-RTM technology is that the outer surface of each tube is particularly bright and smooth, reducing dirt's ability to adhere to the tubes and making them easier to clean.

  • Space Race
World's First Family Bowl Racing Slide! Experience the Adrenaline Rush of Competition....

  • Polin introduces a unique, new Class-A signature ride: the Space Race waterslide. The ride’s geometry is similar to other bowl-type slides, such as Polin’s own Space Boat – a tube ride that launches from a tower, shoots riders down a chute and into a bowl where they gain ever-increasing velocity as centrifugal force sends them shooting around and around before they plummet through the bottom.

But that’s where similarities end between the Space Race and all other family slides.

The Space Race introduces a wholly new opportunity for fun by giving groups of riders a chance to compete as they urge their teammates to be the fastest in crossing the finish line. The slide pits two four-rider family rafts against each other. The rafts enter the bowl from opposite directions at a speed of more than 43 kilometers per hour (27 miles per hour). Separated by a patent-pending divider, the eight riders follow identical helical routes, starting at the perimeter and ending at the center of the bowl. The giant specially designed basin allows the racing teams to see each other as they careen around the bowl, providing incentive for them to lean, bend, crouch and tilt in every way possible to give them an advantage in increasing their speed to gain an edge over their opponents.

Eventually, the teams exit the bowl at the center, shooting in opposite directions as they finalize their sliding adventure via two separate but identical dry or pool run-outs.

Another distinctive characteristic of the Space Race is its entry tower. Riders begin building their adrenaline rush even before they step into their rafts due to the tower’s design. It allows all riders to see other teams competing against one another as they wait their turn to enter the race. As they view other riders, they can start to develop their “secret” competitive advantages for racing through the 218-meter (715-foot) attraction’s slide path.

Once they reach the top, riders face the exact same challenge as their opposing team, providing a rush as they speed through every twist and turn while safely separated from collisions. At the end, riders can congratulate one another as the winner is announced.

Specs on this specialty ride include:

    • Maximum capacity (120 x 8 riders per hour)
    • Optional “Natural Light Effects” (which allows the sun’s rays to stream into the tube via translucent stripes and/or other designs to create a different experience on every ride), “Natural Sound Effects” and “Special Pattern Effects” (which allow a variety of theming and patterns on the slide’s surface)
    • Unique tower centered between the two raft entry points
    • A “shared” slide experience with others in the queue
    • A distinctive, attention-grabbing appearance with the attraction’s massive size ( iconic design)
    • Exclusive options when combined with other slides via specialty design considerations offered in consultation with Polin’s design team professionals
    • Translucent applications
    • A 13/20 percent slope
    • Resin-transfer molding (RTM) technology to create perfectly smooth, shiny slide components inside and outside with perfect component alignment.
    • Space requirements of 20 meters high and 66 meters by 52 meters wide (65 feet high and 216 feet by 170 feet wide)
    • Bowl size of 5 meters (16 feet) high by 26 meters (85 feet) in diameter and an angle of 15 degrees.
    • Theming Possibilities
  • Storm Racer
A Racing, streamlined- design, family-raft, adrenaline, interactive waterslide. First of its kind....

  • This newly engineered hybrid design incorporates a variety of key features:  unique geometry, high capacity, a never-before-experienced ride configuration and an exclusive interactive “Watersplash” feature that ensures intense competition and blasts of adrenaline.

    UNIQUE BENEFITS

    • A Unique Rider Experience. The slide’s streamlined geometric path is unlike any other previously designed attraction. The result is an expertly engineered waterslide that takes guests by surprise from the start of the ride when they launch from an exceptional height: 24 meters (79 feet) — nearly eight stories high. The ride extends along a slide path of 87 meters (285 feet) at a speed of 11 meters (36 feet) per second) — nearly 40 kilometers (25 miles) per hour. The tunnel start part of the slide features Polin’s patented Natural Light Effects technology and Slide’n Roll feature is also available. During the ride, guests are plunged into a bowl configuration and experience the strength of centrifugal force as they whirl around the interior, vertically climbing the side walls of the bowl. The energy gained in this journey provides the force to propel them out of the bowl and then uphill on a wide, sweeping, curved, vertical slope. Rafts rush toward the top of the slope, and just before they seemingly shoot over the edge, gravity safely pulls them backward in a reverse ride. As their raft turns in circles, they are thrust up and over another giant incline before ending their ride in a splash pool and/or run-out. The engineering accomplishment of this slide – with a curved rather than classical slope on the uphill portion of the slide — is a major accomplishment within waterslide design and a concrete example of Polin Waterparks ‘customer-oriented, flexible and efficient design and engineering understanding.
    • Attractively Interactive. As rafts shoot to the top of the slope, Polin Waterparks’ exclusive “Watersplash” sensors detect the exact high point reached by the raft. The sensors are connected to a lighting  system that displays results on a scoreboard to create a competitive adrenaline rush for the riders. At each level, the lighting system showcases another color and if the raft makes it to the top, water splash feature activates and water splashes over the riders creating great fun and memories. Winners can be determined based on each hour of the day, day of the week or the entire season to ensure months of competition between teams.
    • A competitive family experience. In the past, waterslide designers have created attractions that have allowed one individual to race against another individual or multiple individuals. The Storm Racer, however, is to allow families — or teams — to race one another together. The inducement to test different rider impacts on the raft’s agility and speed will push competition to new extremes.
    • Central tower. The Storm Racer employs a giant central tower from which the slide launches. The use of this type of tower provides multiple benefits. First, it promises unique spectator appeal with its tower looming above guests and becoming a central point around which a park can be designed. Second, it gives facilities options because the tower can accommodate both a single slide and two symmetrical slides.
    • High capacity. Because this slide uses multiple family rafts running simultaneously, the number of guests it can accommodate is 8 x 120 riders per hour. This enables to share the excitement on the riders side. On the operators side, this ensures easier queue management.

    PRODUCT FEATURES:

    • Central start tower with a compact design ( Between the two raft entry points.)
