My session is titled "God War Sex." Many of my illustration and design fit into one of these categories. The work I'll be showing and talking about appeared in magazines, books or as posters done either on assignment or as personal work. In addition some of the "fine art" work I do for myself fits the subjects. Included is an image for the Push Pin Graphic, published by my studio for over two decades, as well as from The Nose, a twice yearly publication. They helped our marketing efforts and allowed us to experiment with visual ideas. While following design principles, humor is usually a significant element in my work. I use the visual language, which includes cliches and stereotypes, to make the message accessible. Other tools are irony, incongruity and repetition. I have a range of styles from semi-realistic to out-and-out cartoon determined by the media and concepts and what is appropriate to render my message. I am inspired by ideas and styles of the past and everything around me.
