As creative director for content at Starbucks, Steve Murray leads an incredible team of writers working across everything Starbucks and Teavana. From global promotions to packaging, brand positioning, strategy and stories, and even words carved into leather, burned into wood and poured into concrete at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle (and soon to be others around the world). In 2011 he led the writing for the refresh of the Starbucks brand and identity, along with the reinvention of core coffee packaging—he is also fond of the em dash. Before joining Starbucks in 2007, he worked as a writer and creative director with stops at advertising agencies from Chicago to Seattle. One of eight kids, he has limited himself to just two, who live with Steve and his wife in Seattle.
His work has been recognized in The One Show, Communication Arts, Addy Awards, The Seattle Show, New York Festivals, Creativity Magazine, Soundie Awards and the HOW Design Annual.
