• WORLD’S LARGEST RIDE ENTHUSIAST ORGANIZATION LOOKS BACK AT SUCCESSFUL YEAR (Oct 30, 2019)

  From charity work to preservation, ACE continues to be the amusement industry leader in fan organizations.

  ORLANDO, FL – November 18, 2019 – As the year comes to a close, American Coaster Enthusiasts, the world’s largest ride enthusiast group, looks back at its efforts to preserve, promote and enjoy roller coasters across the country.

  “With 82 different events this year, ACE provides our members unique opportunities to enjoy our partnering parks and their attractions,” said ACE President Robert Ulrich. “We always enjoy giving back to the industry that gives so much to our members.” 

  Examples of ACE’s unsurpassed industry involvement include the following:

  • Raising $137,577 with Give Kids The World’s (GKTW) “Coasting for Kids.”
  • Partnering with Special Olympics Illinois for its “Coaster Challenge.”
  • Providing riders for photo shoots and media days across the country.
  • Assisting community outreach efforts with engineering, history and educational speakers.
  • Launching a traveling roller coaster history display for local libraries.
  • Providing volunteer staffing during peak seasons at multiple facilities.
  • Premiering a podcast, “Ride With Us,” featuring interviews and stories from the industry.
  • Being the only enthusiast group represented at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida.
  • Assisting a historic Northeast park with a rapid-response restoration effort.

• RIDE PRESERVATION EFFORTS IN 2019 BY AMERICAN COASTER ENTHUSIASTS (Oct 30, 2019)

  ORLANDO, FL – November 18, 2019 – For over 40 years, the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) has made the preservation, promotion, appreciation and safe enjoyment of roller coasters its biggest priorities. In 2019, the nonprofit organization continued that tradition by recognizing several roller coasters as well as contributing directly to their restoration.

  These preservation highlights include the following:

  • Presenting an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark plaque and a $10,000 donation to Camden Park in Huntington, West Virginia, for its Big Dipper roller coaster. The ride was built by National Amusement Device (NAD) and is the oldest wooden coaster in West Virginia.
  • Designating  Montezooma’s Revenge at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, as an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark as part of Coaster Con 42 festivities. As the sole remaining Anton Schwarzkopf shuttle loop operating in the United States, it was also the first to use a flywheel launch system.
  • Approving a $10,000 donation to Bushkill Park in Easton, Pennsylvania, to assist in restoring a kiddie coaster after recent flooding closed the park.
  • Approving a $10,000 donation to Arnold’s Park in Iowa to assist with restoring its recently relocated Wild Mouse roller coaster.
  • Financing a Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission historical marker just outside the gates of Kennywood Park, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, recognizing Frederick Ingersoll (1876-1927). Ingersoll designed, built and operated the world’s first chain of amusement parks.
  • Providing volunteer assistance for cleanup weekends at Conneaut Lake Park.

  In addition to these accomplishments, ACE continues to support the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA) in its efforts to preserve rides, artifacts and memories from those who have enjoyed the thrills of America’s roller coasters.
