Hauwelaert has joined Jungle Island during a pivotal time for the park, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar reinvention into an eco-adventure and events destination. Among a number of responsibilities, he is tasked with implementing revenue-generating strategies and new interactive programs.

Hauwelaert's experience before joining Jungle Island includes 15 years of marketing, sales and revenue management experience. Previously, he served as Director of Sales & Marketing for Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, Fla. and is credited with increasing revenue on dolphin encounters, as well as driving park attendance. Beforehand, Hauwelaert had his own tour operator business while in the Keys. Additionally, his experience includes International Sales Manager for TRAVALCO, where he was responsible for business development targeting the UK and Scandinavian markets, as well as Account Manager for Sara Lee Foods in Brussels, Belgium.

“Jeremy’s creativity and record of boosting sales to an all-time high at an attraction that shares similar characteristics to Jungle Island is a tremendous value,” said Curtis Crider, the park’s general manager.

Hauwelaert is involved in various organizations including Visit Florida, Florida Attractions Association and Islamorada Chamber of Commerce. A Belgium native, he speaks five different languages, including Chinese, Dutch, English, French and German, and received his education from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Leuven, Belgium. During his career, Hauwelaert has developed strong analytical skills that have led to his great success as a hospitality industry professional.
