Nicholas C. Scott Sr. is a passionate leader whose vision and innovation has shaped the tourism and hospitality industry in Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York. Scott is a 1963 Graduate of Cornell University where he earned a BS degree in Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management and first learned of the opportunities available as a franchise operator.
Today, Scott Enterprises operates a unique and diverse hospitality portfolio with 27 business locations and entertains over 4 million guest experiences annually. The family-owned company owns and operates original concepts including Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park, Peek’n Peak Resort, The Ambassador Banquet & Conference Center, Hooch & Blotto’s Sports Bar, Oliver’s Rooftop Restaurant and Oliver’s Beer Garden. Additionally, the company operates several franchise restaurants including five Applebee’s, an IHOP and a Quaker Steak & Lube. Scott Enterprises also operates seven franchise hotels in the Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY markets, including such brands as Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Choice Hotels, and Wyndham.
Currently, Scott Enterprises is preparing to begin the second phase of a mixed-use development named Harbor Place along Erie’s beautiful bayfront. In 2020, the company completed the initial phase of the project with the construction of a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel which features Oliver’s Rooftop Restaurant on the 8th floor and Oliver’s Beer Garden, which both celebrate the rich maritime history of Erie. Future concepts for the development include an additional hotel, residences, restaurants, offices and retail shops. The Harbor Place project represents a $160 million investment.
The businesses within the Scott Enterprises’ portfolio are frequently recognized by regional and national publications. For the past four years, Splash Lagoon has been recognized as one of America’s Top 10 Indoor Water Parks by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards and has received top ratings on Tripadvisor.
