 Press Releases

  • MAPAL offers various UNIBASE dispensing systems for optimum storage and management of tools, components and accessories, which can be individually networked with one another according to a modular principle. These systems are often situated in a central location in the manufacturing. In order to store and manage frequently required consumables in a decentralised and space-saving manner, MAPAL has developed the new, cost-effective UNIBASE-S single automatic dispenser. This can be connected to existing UNIBASE systems or used as an individual solution.

Thanks to the compact dimensions, the UNIBASE-S stock dispensing system can be installed directly on the workbench. For example, the 96 or 192 compartments are ideal for storing indexable inserts, tools, chucks or personal protective equipment. This saves the employee a trip to the central warehouse and ensures production-related article procurement. In addition, logistics costs are reduced.

Article removal is quick and uncomplicated in just a few steps. To do this, the employee logs on directly to the device via the integrated touchscreen. Only registered employees can remove articles. If no employee is logged on, central locking is active. After the desired article has been selected via the pre-installed software, the search function of the software supports this and an LED illumination identifies the compartment with the corresponding article. The dispensing drum is rotated manually so that it is at the removal position and the article can be removed. The system automatically registers the withdrawal – in this way, the current status is always used.

  • MAPAL Frhenosa, a joint venture by the MAPAL Group, is stepping up its activities in Mexico. The company has built a second branch in Santiago de Querétaro, giving it an operation right at the heart of the country for the first time. The opening ceremony was held at the end of January and was attended by numerous representatives of the worlds of business and politics.

MAPAL Frhenosa occupies a leading position on the precision tools market in Mexico and employs roughly 120 people. The company’s headquarters are situated in Monterrey in the north of the country. The new factory in Querétaro gives it considerably more production capacity for reconditioning tools, as well as eventually creating 100 new jobs. “This second site gives us the opportunity to cut our response times by quite some margin whilst also meeting the ever more challenging requirements of our customers”, comments a delighted Dr Jochen Kress, president of the MAPAL Group. In recent years, Querétaro has flourished into a major hub for the international automotive and aerospace industries.

Alongside customised process solutions for machining all manner of workpiece materials, MAPAL Frhenosa offers rapid reconditioning of PCD tools and regrinding of solid carbide tools in both Monterrey and Querétaro. The two factories use identical machinery and production processes and comply with the exacting international standards of the MAPAL Group. “For us, creating this new capacity is an investment in the future. We aim to keep on growing”, explains Lazaro Garza, CEO of MAPAL Frhenosa in Mexico.

Mexico has signed free trade and co-operation agreements with more than 60 countries and is a strategically important location for the international MAPAL Group, with abundant potential for development. Approximately €2.3 million was invested in constructing the new branch.
