LASER-FOCUSED ASSOCIATED EXTENDS FLEXIBLE PACKAGING CAPABILITIES
The dynamic printing and packaging manufacturers have acquired two SEI Packmaster Lasers to expand their capabilities in the flexible packaging industry.
Vancouver, BC, Canada– At the beginning of this year, Associated Labels and Packaging acquired two Packmaster Laser units from SEI in Bergamo, Italy, with the help of their suppliers at Matik. Applying these units to their Deacro Slitter Rewinders has allowed them to increase their flexible packaging capabilities significantly.
With consistent growth in the flexible packaging industry, Associated wanted to be prepared. “The main reason for getting micro and macro hole capabilities was to capitalize on the trend toward breathable lidding film applications, especially in the fresh produce market,” says Dan Vassiliev, Associated’s Chief Operating Officer. This has been a huge focus for the company, who released a press release late last year to announce their ground-breaking flexible packaging innovation: peel and reseal lidding film on a fibre tray.
Since acquiring the SEI Packmaster Laser Cross Web and Packmaster Laser Web Direction, Associated can now offer micro-perforation and macro-perforation in-house, as well as laser scoring in any custom shape. “We have full vertical diversification when it comes to breathable lidding film application,” says Dan. The laser units allow the company to achieve high efficiency and maximum precision while being able to control the production environment and maintain their IFS PACsecure certification standards.
