Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood is the sudden and unexpected death of a child 12 months of age or older that remains unexplained after a thorough death investigation. It affects approximately 400 children annually and is the fifth leading category of death in children ages 1 through 4; yet, there is limited medical awareness of it.
