The new building will be equipped with temperature and humidity-controlled zones for fresh produce and will allow City Wide to increase the volume and variety of produce offerings to retailers and restaurants in Western Canada.
City Wide, which has been in Surrey for over 14 years, is building the new facility in collaboration with Orion Construction.
City Wide was founded by newlyweds Gopal and Fazleen Gupta in 2010, while the grocery store was purchased in 2007.
“The first little grocery store we owned in 2007 was our education. We learned how passionate we are about fresh produce,” they state.
City Wide carries a wide range of fruits, vegetables and herbs, and obtained Canada GAP Certification, which includes having a third party auditor from the certification body visit the operation, review the food safety manuals and related records, interview the operator and staff and assess the company’s conformity to the Canada GAP Audit Checklist.
