The Root Quencher™, from In Deep Irrigation, was created out of our love for plants, trees, and bushes, and, just
as importantly, the need to care for them properly. Before developing the Root Quencher™ products, I had been
frustrated for years trying to figure out how to get enough water to trees while not flooding normal plants. The
water bills had gotten out of control and much of my more deep rooted landscaping was not thriving. I wanted to
find a smart way to deliver enough water to quench the roots of fruit trees, regular trees, and bushes without
wasting water.
Robert Summers and Maria Caceres, Founders of In Deep Irrigation, and creators of the Root Quencher™, passion
for gardening started many years ago. Growing up, Robert watched his parents avidly pursue knowledge about
plants and trees through formal education and research. There was no Google back then to do research, and with
no large home improvement stores either, they even mixed their own fertilizers. He watched them consistently
tend to their many fruit trees, regular trees, bushes, flowers, and plants, and remember my father installing
irrigation systems all over the yard that my uncle designed. Their brilliant use of water and the manipulation of
water drops to cut down on misting and evaporation were cutting edge in the 60’s and 70’s and still very relevant
today.
When we installed early prototypes of the Root Quencher™, we found that we could use less water, control the
water flow to balance zones that contained regular planting beds or grass, and overall, help our landscaping thrive.
Short of tearing out all of our irrigation systems and starting over, we pursued the Root Quencher™ as the
solution. The results have been amazing and our trees, bushes, and garden are thriving. We are so excited to share
our learnings and products with you.

In Deep Irrigation Launches Ground-Breaking Deep Root Watering Device
PASADENA, CA — California-based garden technology startup In Deep Irrigation introduces the first deep root
watering device with patent-pending controls designed to intelligently reduce water waste up to 50%. The Root
Quencher™ is the company’s first product in a new line of innovative watering devices set for release in 2022.
Designed specifically for fruit trees, shrubs, and deep-rooted plants, the Root Quencher™ works as a standalone
device or integrates seamlessly with traditional water systems, and includes user-adjustable features that allows
gardeners full control of watering depth (from 9” to 22”), water flow, plant feeding, and in-ground water

After countless efforts conducting research, developing multiple prototypes, and experiments with a variety of

gardening market. “We’re avid gardeners ourselves,” says Summers, “and it’s important that our deep watering
