Barrow Neurological Institute
Barrow Concussion Network (BCN) was first created in 2011 by Javier Cárdenas, MD, Director of the Concussion and Brain Injury Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. Known as Barrow Concussion Network in Arizona and as Dignity Health Concussion Network in other regions, we provide specialized concussion education, assessment and telemedicine services to healthcare professionals, students, schools, athletes and sports teams. Specialty programs include Barrow Brainbook – an electronic learning tool for high school students that is currently mandatory for all Arizona Interscholastic Association athletes and Barrow Brainball – a concussion education app for elementary school students. Since 2011, the Barrow Concussion Network has provided over 130,000 baseline concussion tests, 25,000 post-injury tests, and hundreds of telemedicine consultations and return-to-play recommendations. Barrow Concussion Network and Dignity Health Concussion Network are committed to providing innovative timely support throughout all stages of the concussion continuum from prevention and pre-injury to recovery.
