The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is the premier certification board for nuclear medicine technologists (NMT) by nuclear medicine technologists. Formed for the purpose of creating and maintaining examinations for NMTs, the NMTCB has been offering high-quality certification exams to become a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) since 1978. Currently, over 22,000 individuals are active CNMT certificants.

The NMTCB provides six certification programs: the entry level CNMT credential, the post-primary NMTCB(CT) credential for computed tomography,  the post-primary NMTCB(RS) credential for radiation safety, the PET specialty credential for positron emission tomography certification, the NCT specialty credential for nuclear cardiology, and the NMAA credential for NMT's who have graduated from a recognized Master's level program as a Nuclear Medicine Advanced Associate. Each NMTCB certification program has been specifically designed and developed to serve and move the NMT profession forward.
