Come talk to us about our Alpha-Tocopheryl 2,3,5-Triiodobenzoate iodinated oil for building preclinical CT and multimodal contrast agents!

MediLumine is a biotech company dedicated to assisting scientists with in vivo imaging and preclinical research tools. The company began in 2013 with the launch of the Fenestra®  line of biomimetic contrast agents that copy the structure of endogeneous chylomicron remnants enabling researchers to visualize and quantify disease processes in soft tissues using microCT imaging. Consistent with our core values of enabling 'Vision without Sacrifice,' we now offer the PRISM™ line of in vivo imaging systems for 3D bioluminescence and 2D NIR/NIR II fluorescence, the LightTrack OiS200 mesoscope for optogenetics and GCamp imaging, as well as accessories that facilitate tail vein injections.

Brands: Fenestra® PRISM™ Mvein™ Mvivo™

 Press Releases

  • We're pleased to announce the launch of Alpha-Tocopheryl 2,3,5-Triiodobenzoate iodinated oil for building preclinical CT and multimodal contrast agents. The oil can be used to formulate contrast agents in your lab and incorporate imaging probes for multimodal imaging projects.

This oil was developed in the laboratory of Dr. Vandamme at the University of Strasbourg and is the main ingredient of our new and improved line of Fenestra®  contrast agents. These contrast agents are composed of oily nanoparticles that mimic the structure of chylomicron remnants and get taken into soft tissues enabling high resolution microCT imaging.  The contrast agents are used used to obtain CT contrast enhancement of murine heart in PET/CT studies without attenuating PET signal, functional and anatomical imaging, as well as staging and monitoring fatty liver disease, quantifying liver tumor burdens.

  • The Mvein™ restrainer is designed to facilitate mouse-tail vein injections with a head cone instead of a nose cone. The head cone helps prevent asphyxiation caused by traditional restraint using only the nose cone, while still allowing for movement of the animal’s head.

It is the first restrainer for mouse-tail vein injections, enabling the loading of the animal head-first or tail-first, which prevents pulling on the mouse’s tail.

Additionally, it is ideal for loading mice with flank tumors in xenograft studies due to its rectangular design.

After loading the mouse into the restrainer, the technician can rotate it 90 degrees so that the vein is positioned at the top for injection. The Mvein™ restrainer accommodates nearly all sizes of mice (15-40g) and can also be used for blood sampling or blood pressure monitoring.

  • PRISM™ Line of In Vivo Imaging Systems
MediLumine’s PRISM™ line of in vivo imaging systems enables photon counting based in vivo imaging with 2D and 3D detections in bioluminescence and fluorescence (NIR I and SWIR) modalities....

  • MediLumine’s PRISM™ line of in vivo imaging systems photon counting for highly sensitive in vivo optical imaging of up to five mice. The imager is able to detect a single photon in a pixel opening a new biological window for bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging.

The PRISM imaging system allows for 3D imaging with a profile scanner that obtains volumetric profile image of mouse as well as real time fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging.

PRISM is now installed at four different sites across the world and scientists are finding that the system has an unparalleled combination of real-time imaging and detection of ultra-weak photonic emissions for deeper and earlier detections of optical signals in vivo.

The design of PRISM is completely modular allowing scientists to purchase many different configurations such for NIR/NIR II fluorescence or bioluminescence imaging.

  • Fenestra HDVC is an iodinated nanoemulsion formulated for microCT imaging of vasculature, liver and spleen. The product has twice the dose of iodine (100 mgI/ml) compared to previous Fenestra formulations allowing researchers to reduce the injected dose.

Fenestra HDVC circulates in blood for 24 hours and the selectively targets hepatocytes for functional and anatomical imaging, staging and monitoring fatty liver disease, quantifying liver tumor burdens. Fenestra HDVC remains in liver for many months after a single injection and enabling longitudinal studies of liver diseases.

  • The LightTrack OiS200 Mesoscope for optical imaging and targeted optogenetics is a highly customizable system for in vivo experimentation and behavioural research.

The mesoscope allows scientist perform in vivo imaging across the entire murine cortex as well as targeted optogenetics. The imaging of calcium indicators, intrinsic optical imaging, laser speckle imaging is easily performed with acquisition software that allows for with adjustable frame rate, exposure time, binning, ROI, illumination selection and stimulation parameters.

Users have found the system is ideal for integrating accessories used in behavioral studies as it synchronizes with various other types of behavioral equipment through auxiliary input/output ports.

The integrated and ergonomic system allows you to save lab space and comes at an economical price point making it an ideal research companion for neuroscience, vascular biology, saving 100 hundreds of hours required to build customized mesoscopic rig.
