The BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design course has been recognised as a centre of excellence by the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize 2017. On this exciting course, you’ll discover how to create whole new worlds. As well as technical skills, there is the opportunity to learn that great designs depend on the ability to interpret ideas with a real emphasis on conceptual work. Students will work alongside students from the BA (Hons) Film Production, Make- up for Media and Performance and Acting courses on stage and film productions. You may choose to complete your degree in one of the following named awards:

- BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design (Scenography)
- BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design (Costume Supervision)
- BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design (Costume Interpretation)
Students on the BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design course benefit from specialist facilities and equipment, tailored to the studies of the course which reflects industry practice. Graduates from this course have gone on to design and make costumes for theatres and film studios all over the world.
The BA (Hons) Make- up for Media and Performance course give students the skills need to play a key creative role in performance, fashion, film or television. The make-up artist is an important member of any production team and collaboration with students studying acting, film production, costume and fashion to creative “live” collaborative projects is key to the course. BA (Hons) Make- up for Media and Performance is a skill set accredited course and offersthree state-of-the-art make-up studios, which provide a realistic, professional and comfortable working environment. Formally opened by Nick Dudman himself, our makeup studios offer large flexible spaces for lectures, demonstrations, and practical workshops for all creative make-up and hair work.
Successful completion of this course means you will have acquired the accomplished, discipline- specific and transferable skills needed in order to enter a highly competitive and sometimes unpredictable makeup industry, which requires graduates with a robust work ethic.
