As well as this, our Production students enjoy facilities among the best in Europe, including:

  • technical construction workshops

  • wet and dry prop rooms

  • a paint shop with full sized paint frame and motorised bridge

  • a fully equipped machine shop

  • a construction workshop with welding bay

  • costume construction workshops

  • considerable wardrobe stock stores

  • three studios for Production Arts and Design class and project work

  • a new digital media suite

  • recording studio facilities

  • industry-standard performance venues

The programmes we offer in the Production department are:

BA Production Arts and Design

A 3 year Undergraduate programme designed to create a high-level Conservatoire learning environment for aspiring scenic artists, prop makers, stage carpenters, costume makers, and set and costume designers.

BA Production Technology and Management

A 3 year Undergraduate programme that aims to produce production technicians, stage managers and lighting designers who can turn their hands to any related role, making them employable in a range of contexts, whilst also being specialists in career pathways (i.e. stage management, stage technology, sound technology, lighting technology and lighting design.)

As an American student, tuition fees at RCS are competitively priced; often less than half that of comparable schools, conservatoires and universities in the US. You will also find the cost of living in Glasgow is relatively inexpensive compared to other cities in the UK (approx. £200.00 / $240.00 per week including accommodation.) For US students, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is able to certify US Direct Loans which can cover the cost of tuition and living costs. Aside from this, we’re based in a country that attracts large numbers of international students – currently there are more than 50,000 students from 180 countries studying in Scotland. We’ve also been recognised as the most beautiful country in the world!

We would be delighted to see you during our time at USITT and answer any questions you may have about studying with us in Glasgow. You can come to see us at our booth - 1650 - or, alternatively, e-mail our team directly at We look forward to meeting you!
