The Naples Players is a nationally recognized community theatre based in Naples, Florida. Annually, we produce 16 full scale productions, as well as hosting a children's program that serves more than 1,000 children ages 4-18. As a community based organization, we also provide numerous performance based adult education classes, as well as classes for those with special needs. While we employ 20 full time staff members, all of our productions include volunteer opportunities for those interested in acting, costume and scenic construction, stage crew, and ushering. Internship opportunities are available for our summer season (May to August), as well as our full season (August to May). Internships are available in Lighting, Sound, Scenic, Costumes, and Stage Management departments. Interns work closely with our professional staff to produce all of our productions, as well as cross train in other departments. Summer Internships are geared towards those that have not completed their degree, while full season internships are tailored to individuals that have completed their degrees and/or have to fulfill an internship requirement for their degrees. Full season interns will have the opportunity to design in select department to hone their skills to be able to move on to the next steps in their careers in the performing arts.
The Sugden Community Theatre is the home of The Naples Players, and consists of Blackburn Hall and the Tobye Studio Theatre. Blacburn Hall is a 326 seat proscenium house with 29 double purchase linsets. On this stage, we produce 3 large scale musicals and 5 plays annually. Tobye Studio is a 100 seat black box theatre that can be set up in three different seating configurations. In this space, we produce 3 plays per year, as well as hosting rehearsal and performance spaces for our childrens program, KidzAct. KidzAct produces an additional 8 productions per year in both of our spaces, mostly musicals. Summer Interns work closely with KidzAct productions, designing most elements of these productions.
