University Resident Theatre Association
For more than 50 years, URTA has set the stage for emerging artists to enter the theatre and entertainment professions by supporting professional training and facilitating engagement between training programs and the professional field.
URTA (the University Resident Theatre Association) is a hallmark of the American theatre community, supporting excellence in the training of emerging artists, and engagement between training programs and the professional fields of theatre and entertainment.
For more than 50 years, the URTA Auditions & Interviews ("the URTAs") have been the primary--and most accessible--route for students seeking professional, graduate training. In 2021, URTA will launch much anticipated undergraduate auditions & interviews for performers, stage managers, technicians, and designers.
Our paymaster services facilitate the hiring of professional artists in universities, and support individual artists engaged in new endeavors. The URTA Digital Job Fair helps theaters and producers connect with talented and trained early-career performers, stage managers, technicians, designers, and crew.
The URTA Career Outreach initiative sends our professional staff and faculty directly to undergraduate classrooms, intern programs, and apprentice companies to demistify the path from training to the profession.
URTA continues to set the stage by developing programs and services that answer the needs of university theatres, training programs, and individual artists.
