As a Senior Staff Accountant within the Office of the Fiscal Assistant Secretary (OFAS) at the U.S. Department of Treasury, Ms. Alvarado is responsible for supporting the Fiscal Assistant Secretary and the Deputy Fiscal Assistant Secretary's mission and strategic vision. Ms. Alvarado’s work within the Office of Accounting Policy and Financial Transparency (OAPFT) includes a broad portfolio covering federal financial management, such as, identifying, detecting, and preventing fraud, improving, and advancing payment integrity across government, enabling federal financial management through implementation of cutting-edge software innovations, and developing accounting policy to drive change.

Prior to joining Treasury, Ms. Alvarado was a manager at Deloitte Consulting specializing in grants management solutions and implementing Oracle ERP Cloud software products for public sector clients. Ms. Alvarado has more than 25 years of financial management experience assisting universities, nonprofits, and governments address a broad range of strategic and technical challenges involving business process re-design, system implementations and upgrades, project management, data migration and transformation techniques, and identification of key controls for audit, compliance, and assurance purposes.

Ms. Alvarado also served as Division Manager at the Smithsonian Institution, and Branch Chief at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

Ms. Alvarado graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas, with a Master's in Information Systems (MISM) from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's in High Technology Crime Investigation from The George Washington University. Ms. Alvarado holds credential as a certified public accountant (CPA), certified internal auditor (CIA), certified information systems auditor (CISA), certified fraud examiner (CFE), and a project management professional (PMP).
