Ms. Smiley serves as the acting Director for the Risk Management and Assurance Division at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, Ms. Smiley oversees the internal controls over financial reporting program for DHS. Key focus areas and efforts have included developing a robust, risk based information technology assurance program, expanding fraud assessments and assurances, implementing data analytics, and utilizing risk based control prioritization for the Department’s limited resources.
