Nic Hales joined the Accounting Division at West Valley City in 2009 and started working as the Chief Accountant in 2021. Nic previously worked at the Office of the Utah State Auditor, and at the Utah State Tax Commission. During his career, Nic has worked to streamline accounting processes for West Valley City’s Housing Authority, Grants Division, Ambulance Services, and several other city departments. Nic was recognized by his peers as the Employee’s Choice Award Recipient in 2009 and has served on West Valley City’s Employee Committee.
Nic began his service in AGA in 2013, joining the Northern Utah Chapter Executive Board in 2015. He has served as Community Service Chair, CGFM Chair, President, and NCC Representative. In 2020, Nic joined the AGA National Governing Board as the Director for Chapters over Area 1. His term will end in 2022.
Nic earned his Master of Accountancy degree with an emphasis in Tax from Brigham Young University in 2008, and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2003. Nic is a Certified Public Accountant, and a Certified Government Finance Manager.
