Mr. Baldre is currently the Comptroller in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) at the US Department of State and has served in that capacity since October 2015; however, he has supported DS in various capacities since 1989. His current position was previously titled the DS Chief Financial Officer and he served in this position from April 2011 until October 2015. In October 2015 Mr. Baldre became a career member of the Senior Executive Service. Previously he served as the Division Chief for Financial Execution and Senior Resource Manager for the Office of Security Technology, both within DS. Prior to directly joining DS in 2001 he held the position as Director of Business Operations with ManTech Strategic Associates and a software startup Xcert International, all supporting DS. Mr. Baldre served in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 through 1988 where he held several interesting positions with the most unique within the Office of Special Investigations. Mr. Baldre went to school at night working towards a business degree by attending Northern Virginia Community College, St. Leo University, and the University of Virginia. Additionally, Mr. Baldre earned a Certificate in Government Contracting from the University of Virginia. In a volunteer capacity Mr. Baldre has served on the Board of Directors of The DC Center, a community center for those in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. He also sang with the Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Washington DC as well as the Georgetown Chorale, where once performed as a backup singer for Judy Collins. In November 2012 Mr. Baldre was awarded the Robert C. Bannerman Diplomatic Security Employee of the Year, only the second time a civil servant had received that honor.
