Profile

Michele Robinson has 20 years of experience and proven leadership at the senior and executive levels in information security and more than 27 years of experience in significant policy and program formulation and execution, making positive impacts at both the state and national levels.

She currently serves as Chief of the Security Risk Governance (SRG) Section within the California Department of Technology (CDT), Office of Information Security (OIS), responsible for statewide information security governance, risk, and compliance. She also serves as a mentor and instructor for CDT’s leadership and workforce development training programs.

Between May 2013 to March 2016, Robinson served as the Director of OIS and State Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown. Robinson joined OIS in 2007 and assumed the position of Acting Director in February 2013, where she served as the liaison to federal, State and local government on cyber security policies and issues. From 2010 to 2013, she served as Deputy CISO, managing the day-to-day operations of OIS and the statewide information security program.

From 2007 to 2010, Robinson served as Assistant CISO managing the statewide enterprise incident management program and effecting several significant statewide policies. Prior to joining OIS, Robinson served as the CISO and Privacy Officer for the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB) for nearly 5 years.
