United States Marshals Service (USMS) Director Ronald L. Davis named Jeffrey M. Smith as the Assistant Director (AD) of the Management Support Division on November 07, 2021. AD Smith is a proven executive leader who is recognized for his multisector accomplishments within Mission Support and Office of Management components focused on customer experience, business excellence and strategic planning. In his current role, AD Smith provides executive leadership and managerial oversight to four offices that directly support the USMS mission, which include the Office of Construction Management, Office of Program Services, Office of Support Management, and the Business Integration Center.

For over 12 years, AD Smith has served in numerous leadership roles within the federal government where he led effective change management initiatives to improve results driven outcomes and build strategic partnerships to mitigate risk. Most recently, as the Executive Director of Mission Support at the Veterans Benefits Administration, he was the principal advisor to the Under Secretary on all Administration, Acquisition, Facilities and Emergency Preparedness programs and policies. His expansive administrative acumen led to many Veteran centric program successes. Leveraging his operational experience and mission-oriented approach, he held two key positions within the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Region VII office. As the Mission Support Director, he was responsible for providing customer-focused business management services and support infrastructure to enable FEMA’s mission success. As the Chief of the Regional Watch and Coordination Center, he coordinated emergency management planning and response to ensure a whole community approach to disasters.
