    Human iPSC-derived NPCs and neurons are an appealing resource for in vitro disease modeling, toxicity screening, and drug screening.   • hTERT Immortalized Neonatal Primary Melanocytes

    hTERT-immortalized neonatal primary melanocytes were created by the retroviral transduction with the gene encoding the human telomerase catalytic subunit (hTERT) into a primary neonatal melanocyte.  Essential melanocyte characterization post-transduction was confirmed by immunofluorescence staining for the melanocyte marker TRP1. The hTERT-immortalized neonatal primary melanocytes cell line also retain the ability to produce melanin in culture at an excess of 35 PDLs, while maintaining  typical melanocyte morphology as observed through phase contrast microscopy.  The hTERT immortalized melanocytes in co-cultured with hTERT immortalized keratinocytes and dermal fibroblasts have been successfully used to create organotypic 3D skin models.
