The mission of the Northern Crops Institute is to support regional agriculture and value-added processing through educational and technical programs that expand markets for northern grown crops. Our goal is to ensure those who purchase and use soybeans, corn, cereals, oilseeds and pulse crops, understand their quality and the best processing methods.
NCI has been recognized as one of the preeminent soybean-related product development facilities with pilot-scale soy foods processing. This includes soy milk and tofu production systems, and solvent extraction and deodorizing systems. We also offer other specialized twin-extrusion services for the production of texturized vegetable proteins, high moisture meat analogs, and extruded snack foods.
Additionally, NCI has a feed production center that incorporates corn and soy into diets from all major livestock species. In support of our processing and development capabilities, NCI has full-scale analytical labs for testing ingredient and product quality.
