SHAPING THE WORLD OF CONSTRUCTION

Howick is a pioneer and innovator in precision light steel roll-forming technology. We are trusted partners and suppliers to builders, offsite construction companies and developers in 75 countries; Howick’s FRAMA™ range is globally recognised for delivering high-precision manufacturing of cold-formed steel framing, flooring and roofing components.

Building on this formidable reputation Howick now introduces a ground-breaking system which produces steel framing that extends to fit the most challenging interior spaces, the X-TENDA™ 3600.

While you can always count on Howick steel framing to be 100% straight, job after job, the same cannot always be said for the spaces it is installed into. Framing uneven spaces means spending extra time trimming and fitting framing onsite.

X-TENDA™ 3600 is a roll-forming system that creates lightweight, sliding telescopic components that make short work of framing, retrofitting or infilling interior walls and ceilings.

Design the panels in the software of your choice, and the X-TENDA™ 3600 manufactures all of the components, ready to snap together and carry on site. Then, it is simply a matter of extending the panels for a precise fit in even the most challenging spaces. Doors and windows remain square, while cutting and wastage are eliminated completely.

X-TENDA™ 3600 is a game changer for framing professionals, cutting installation times by 50%.

 Press Releases

  • The promise was big: a machine to transform interior framing. Honoring that promise is the X-TENDA™ 3600, the revolutionary telescopic steel framing system created by New Zealand company Howick Ltd.

New Zealand company, Howick, has created a ground-breaking cold formed steel roll-forming system that transforms interior framing.

Howick is proud to showcase the framing wonders of the X-TENDA™ 3600 at the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry’s (AWCI) Build23 Convention and Expo in Las Vegas, March 12-16, 2023.

Building upon its solid reputation as a pioneer in the technology of precision light steel roll-forming machines, Howick created the X-TENDA™ 3600 to produce telescopic cold formed steel framing for retrofit or infill interior walls and ceilings.

The X-TENDA™3600 enables frames to be adjustable in any direction, which is especially valuable given that internal structures on existing premises are rarely square. Traditional ways of dealing with this are generally considered difficult, wasteful and time-consuming.

Howick CEO Nick Coubray says his innovative team saw the benefit of devising a framing system to produce a complete extendable panel that would save contractors time, materials and labour. The X-TENDA™ 3600 manufactures all interior wall and ceiling framing components ready to be pre-assembled, compressed and then quickly extended and adjusted on site to precisely fit even the most uneven and non-level spaces – achieved. At the same time, door and window sections within the frames remain completely true. There is no need for re-work, and there is zero wastage.

On top of that, it is massively time efficient – saving at least 50 percent of the time it normally takes to frame interior spaces using traditional framing methods.

Companies with a Howick X-TENDA™ 3600 on board can enjoy a powerful commercial advantage. For an example of how this technology redefines interior and retrofit working practices, check out the video here of the design to fabrication to the installation process of a real-life project in Massachusetts.  As the video demonstrates, operating with BIM construction technology, the Howick machine receives data from StrucSoft Solutions framing software, then produces and labels all components ready to assemble. All punching and fixing holes are placed with pinpoint accuracy, so they are self-locating, significantly improving onsite efficiency.

Strucsoft Solutions, Howick and Windover Construction, came together to use the X-TENDA™ 3600 in this build for the YMCA in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The outcome was a saving of 70% on both time and cost. Starting at 14:13 on the webinar, you will see how this is transforming infill framing installation to build with precision, speed and strength.

  • X-TENDA™3600
Using BIM technology, X-TENDA™ 3600 produces telescopic interior framing components that can be adjusted in any direction while remaining completely square. Accurate, strong, lightweight to carry, and easily assembled makes the finishing process a breeze....

  • The X-TENDA™ 3600 saves 50% or more of the time it normally takes to frame interior spaces with traditional framing methods. It produces telescopic cold formed steel framing for retrofit or infill interior walls and ceilings. The components produced are pre-assembled, compressed for easy manoeuvre, then quickly expanded and adjusted onsite for a precise fit every time.

Telescopically adjusted onsite, they are light for safer manoeuvrability and much more accurate to square dimensions for cost-saving efficiencies through less reworked material wastage. Working with greater accuracy to install your wall panels in reduced time benefits the overall interior fit-out process by providing a truly straight wall to work with. And not just for walls, we offer solutions for bulkheads, soffit panels and double T flooring systems used in concrete flooring and external facades.

    Suitable for:

    • Internal non-load-bearing walls
    • Bulkheads
    • Soffit panels
