Welcome to WVU Emergency Medicine!

Our residency program is a 3-year, ACGME accredited Emergency Medicine Residency, founded in 1993, making our program very well established and well respected. The program accepts 10 residents per incoming class. Training at WVU is broad based—consisting of three clinical sites designed to prepare you for practicing in any Emergency Care setting you choose upon graduation. Our residency prides itself in it's ability to offer outstanding medical training in a family like atmosphere.

WVU Emergency Medicine Residency’s mission is three fold:

1. To provide you with not just a satisfactory, but OUTSTANDING medically sound education so that you will be able to provide care to ANY patient you come in contact with.
2. To surround you with departmental leadership that strives to provide you with an amazing education through a dynamic, evidence based, and innovate curriculum.
3. To continue our track record of graduating residents who are competent to practice independently in ANY emergency care setting
