Welcome to the Christiana Care EM Residency Program!

Founded in 1981, Christiana Care is one of the oldest residency programs in the country.  We are unique because we are a private non-university based group that operates our residency.  This situation allows our residency to gain a unique understanding of the operations of an emergency department as well as the business side of our specialty. Delaware is small but Christiana is huge. We are 100+ beds in our main ED and we are close to hitting 200K visits a year across our 3 emergency departments. The hospital is approx 1000 beds and building more all the time. We don't really fit into the traditional community vs university boxes as we the area's level 1 trauma center, the acute stroke and cardiac center. As such our patients are not just from DE but come in from MD, NJ, PA and sometimes VA.  We work hard here and are extremely proud of the emergency care that we provide to our state and surrounding areas.  So if you are traveling through and you need any secondary or tertiary care between Baltimore and Philly - we're it! Oh, and we have no sales tax!
