VOSH/International believes in the freedom to see.
Since 1971 our almost 90 US and international chapters have provided free vision and eye health services to those who cannot afford or access it in the world. Our work contributes to address uncorrected poor vision affecting approximately 2.5 billion people across the world through:
- Sustainable eye clinics including the short-term humanitarian eye clinis led by our chapters.
- Supporting optometric education at emerging schools of optometry by recruiting faculty, donating equipment and mentoring.
- Facilitating networking of optometrists across the world.
- Developing and sharing clinical guidelines to ensure quality services.
We are the biggest network of volunteer optometrists in the world. Every year we serve over 110,000 patients in need across the world, including in the US where several of our chapters organise local clinics to serve vulnerable communities.
