ALTRAC RELEASES NEW REMOTE IRRIGATION CONTROL STATIONS
Altrac, developer of the ST140 Pump Control Station, which enables growers to remotely control irrigation equipment via smartphone; is introducing a complementary product for valves and other field mounted agricultural sensors.
The ST161 Multi-Station provides:
- Control for 2 latching solenoid valves
- Inputs for 2 pressure sensors
- Port for Sentek or EnviroPro soil moisture sensors
- Port for Davis VantagePro2 Weather Station
- Solar panel and integrated charge controller
- Internal Lithium or Sealed Lead Acid battery (cold weather option)
“This product is ideal for farmers who don’t want to drive an hour each way just to turn their equipment off.” said Altrac GM Neil Schultz. “The ST161 pays for itself in 12 months with irrigation labor savings”.
A mobile interface lets you remotely schedule valves to operate from your phone. The ST161 sends text messages when valves close unexpectedly, or no pressure is measured downstream in the open position. Reports are available to confirm scheduled vs actual irrigation periods. Like all Altrac products, the ST161 includes 5 years of bundled cell plan data.
Each Valve Station contains a cellular modem which dramatically increases uptime by eliminating the need to leapfrog a signal between devices. “We put a lot of engineering into taking advantage of the 5G CAT M1 bandwidth”, Schultz advises. “This keeps our data costs down and we can deploy our equipment for less than $600 a valve”.
Altrac, based in San Francisco, CA is a leading developer of cellular control technology for agricultural equipment, including wind machines, pumps, and valves. Their equipment can be purchased through Agri-Valley Irrigation, Gar Bennett, Exeter Irrigation, Streamline Irrigation, Hydratec, and Western Ag & Turf, .
