Bornoff Foundation for the Advancement of String Education (FASE, Inc.)
The Foundation for the Advancement of String Education (FASE, Inc.) is a non-profit that promotes the philosophy and pedagogy of Dr. George Bornoff by providing training, classroom resources, and financial support for orchestra teachers and their programs. We focus on merging high quality string pedagogy, rooted in the Bornoff Approach, with inclusive classroom practices so that ALL students can succeed. We host many online and in-person workshops where teachers can receive Graduate or Continuing Ed Credits, and we also work to advance equity through the FASE Diverse String Teachers Fellowship, a professional development program that provides mentorship and resources to early career teachers from underrepresented backgrounds.
The Bornoff Approach is a comprehensive skills-based pedagogy scaffolding seamlessly from students' first sounds to collegiate level techniques. Accessible frameworks help students organize concepts and master skills more quickly, producing confident string players who can apply their learning to any style of music.
