The Benjamin Banneker Association, an equity affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), is a national non-profit organization concerned with the mathematics education of ALL children, and more specifically to empowering Black children by actively pursuing effective solutions to the challenges hindering their access to equal opportunities in mathematics education and achievement. Since our founding in 1986, our organization has been dedicated to serve as an advocate for its members' educational and professional needs and for the educational and developmental needs of Black children, especially as these needs relate to their mathematics education.
