The Society of Nuclear Medicine is one of the many specialized branches of the Chinese Medical Association. The first national nuclear medicine conference was held in Shijiazhuang in May 1980. The Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine (CSNM) was founded during the first national nuclear medicine conference under the dual leadership of two institutes – the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Nuclear Society. The conference was initiated by the academician Shizhen Wang. It played an important role in promoting the development of Chinese nuclear medicine. Till now, the CSNM has hosted eleven committees that have appointed the following committee chairs: Shizhen Wang, Qian Zhou, Xiangtong Lin, Xiujie Liu, Wanying Qu, Shengzu Chen, Anren Kuang, Jiahe Tian, Gang Huang, Yaming Li and Sijin Li.
