  • (Richmond, CA – March 07, 2024) – Lotus Foods, the forefront heirloom and organic rice company, announces it is one of three finalists in the prestigious Organic Excellence Awards for the Best New Organic Product Category at An Organic Night Out: Honoring the Year's Best in Organic at Expo West. The event is hosted by two key organizations in the organic industry: Organic Voices and The Organic Center. This recognition celebrates the company's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and the highest standards in organic agriculture.

    The event will include a first of its kind awards show to celebrate achievements in the organic industry hosted by Jennifer Garner and Gary Hirshberg. This inaugural awards show is not only a way to highlight and applaud people and brands throughout the organic industry, but also benefit Organic Voices and The Organic Center, two invaluable organizations working to uplift organic messaging, research, and awareness to consumers.

    In September 2023, Lotus Foods achieved a significant milestone with its Organic White and Brown Basmati Rice, becoming the first and only recipient of the Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC®) Gold designation in the rice category. This achievement underscores Lotus Foods' dedication to promoting organic production practices that not only support a healthy planet but also foster a fair and equitable society.

    The journey to ROC® Gold was a collaborative effort between Lotus Foods and its Indian supplier, Pratithi Organic Foods. Together, they have demonstrated leadership in regenerative rice farming practices, showcasing how agriculture can mitigate climate change, enhance farmers' livelihoods, and preserve cultural heritage.

  • Lotus Foods, the leading heirloom and organic rice company, is excited to introduce an enhancement to their Organic Asian Rice Noodle Line with two even-better Pad Thai Rice Noodles in traditional and brown rice varieties. The products will launch at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA on March 13, 2024  at the Lotus Foods’ booth #1534 in Hall B. 

    Lotus Foods’ new Pad Thai Rice Noodles are now crafted with long-grain rice grown in Northern Thailand, for a more authentic flavor, springy texture and clump-free cooking. True to the Lotus Foods’ mission, the Thai rice is grown using practices that help to improve soil health such as:

    • Soil coverage by compost, manure, and cover crops.

    • Minimizing soil disturbance by avoiding inorganic fertilizers and using mechanical weeding instead of inorganic herbicides.

    • Using rice straw leftover from harvest for animal feed.

    In addition to these environmentally-conscious growing practices, the new noodles have achieved top ratings in consumer taste testing, preferred by 74% of all consumers. Lotus Foods current buyers are even more positive with 77% preferring the new*.  

    New & Improved Pad Thai Noodles:

    • ORGANIC TRADITIONAL PAD THAI RICE NOODLES This popular classic Pad Thai Noodle is crafted from white rice, giving it a lighter color and a milder flavor.     • ORGANIC BROWN PAD THAI RICE NOODLES Leaving the germ and bran layer on the  grain intact is what defines a brown rice.  This not only enhances its nutrition by  increasing the amount of fiber and  nutrients, but also provides a fuller and  nuttier flavor. Using a brown rice noodle adds additional depth of flavor to any recipe.

Presented by Big Path Capital, this accolade underscores Burke's visionary leadership and commitment to driving positive change within the industry.

    Andrew Burke assumed the role of CEO in July 2023, succeeding Co-Founders Caryl Levine and Ken Lee, who were honored for the same award in 2023 for promoting organic and regenerative rice-growing practices. Levine and Lee continue to serve as visionaries on the board. Since arriving at Lotus Foods in 2019, Burke has adeptly navigated the company through challenging times, including the pandemic, efficiently scaling the business.     Burke and his fellow honorees will be celebrated at the MO 100 Awards Gala during the 2024 MO CEO Summit, scheduled for April 15-17, 2024, in Austin, Texas. The event will convene 200 purpose-driven CEOs for insightful panels, networking opportunities, and collaborative endeavors.
